Music influences my every reason of dreams, thought, life, and death. I'm a visual artist. My mind is captivated by nature, colours and light. I'm always interested in every diminutive factor of this interesting world I live in, as those factors connect in some mystifying manner to create the bigger picture, the canvas where we reside.
A free spirited spontaneous soul some may categorize me. Taking risks when others flee propels me forward in our limited time. Nevertheless, sporadically, at a glance, I notice others, careless of their own spirit... my motivation.
Curious from birth, I constantly consider alternatives to why and how things do... well, whatever it is they do. My mind is inquisitive to ask, "why," and my heart is courageous to proclaim, "why not?"
My life's passion is telling stories through motion pictures and still photography.
Peace and Love,

Born Stateside, turned International Wonderer...
A quote proclaimed from an associate to Mr. Guynn regarding a recent short film, "You have rekindled my interest in short filmmaking. Seriously, it's brilliant." Creating art that allows another to escape, feel, and take home a piece of the artist's work, is the primary focus, motivation, and backbone of American art-house filmmaker, photographer, and musician, Christopher S. Guynn. Christopher, also known as Christian Guynn, has spent nine years working in the film industry from where his expertise resides strongly in naritive features, shorts, and music videos. Additionally, he has six years of still photography experience in landscape, portraits, nature, abstract, interpretive, urban, and still life imagery. To add more to his already remarkable repertoire, Christopher has an impressive twelve years as a musician composing his own music, composing music for motion pictures and commercials, and composing music as a disc jockey. His experiences has taken him from the Midwest to Los Angeles, Australia, London, France, and Germany allowing him to work with unknown talent to internationally well known artists.
Christopher grew up with a mother heavily interested in photography, and a father who frequently filmed family events and often relaxed to music of the 1950's to the 1980's; an atmosphere which soon manifested itself into Christopher's epiphany of becoming a filmmaker at the age of eleven. At this age, he also found a new love for music; switching from typical adolescent genres to jazz, blues, classical, and new age. He also began learning the piano, clarinet, and singing. Music became an entirely new playground for Christopher as he found the ability to generate images in his mind from a simple note or an entire song. He would, as he puts it, "dance" these mental images until the rhythm of the music and mental imagery makes a smooth paced visual story. This revelation soon became an obsession and eventually Christopher's technique of writing. In an interview in 2006, he mentioned,
"...that's basically how it works. I listen to music, and let my head and heart do all the work. I just close my eyes. And, sometimes I see images while my eyes are still open, which is a freaky morsel of schizophrenia it seems at times, but it does the trick. Sometimes I get a full story in a single song in a single night, but other times it could take months and hundreds of songs. I just need the right song, and when I have the right song with the right rhythm, pace, and the right images, I know I have a good story to begin writing. It just works for me that way. I fill my head with images to songs until I have an overwhelming amount of storyline, then I write down in detail each individual image. And, from there I just trim the fat by cutting down the indispensable details and shaping the essential details into a solid story... then I write the script."
Coming back to his adolescence, Christopher took a keen interest in becoming a disc jockey. At the age of twelve, two of his uncles who were professional disc jockeys, trained Christopher in the art of music and it's effects on a crowd. A year later, and at the age of thirteen, Christopher's film interest progressed as he produced, wrote, directed, and performed in a class project short promoting Tic-Tac breath fresheners. This was his first experience in motion pictures and his confirmation of his epiphany. At the age of fifteen, his uncles rewarded him with his very own disc jockey equipment; a period when he began offering his own disc jockey services under the name, DJ Roo, which became a premature start to a company that is runs today.
In 2001, and now seventeen years of age, Christopher produced and directed his first music video. He also received his first motion camera as a pre-graduation gift from his parents, which allowed him to independently produce his own projects. Graduating high school in 2002, he acquired advance knowledge and practical application in writing, directing, cinematography, and non-linear editing. As a Christmas present, Christopher received his first guitar, which he immediately began composing music for over a dozen poems he had previously written.
In June of 2002, and shortly after high school graduation, Christopher made a life-changing decision to join the United States Marine Corps. He declares this choice was to develop a stronger self-discipline for his character. This choice also brought unique specialized skills to his performance repertoire, as well as brought him out to Southern California. Although his military base was a two-hour commute to Los Angeles, and his training was an intensely regimented Monday through Friday operation, he made the four-hour round trip commute every weekend to Los Angeles to immerse himself in the film industry. He established relationships with producers, writers, directors, and actors who properly introduced him into the film culture.
In late 2003, Christopher returned to the Midwest upon the completion of his training to report to his reservist unit in his hometown of Indianapolis, IN. During this period, and with a lot of down time, he began writing his first naritive feature screenplay, titled, Fragile Hope , and decided to attend university in 2004 to study theatre and communication at University of Indianapolis.
While at university, Christopher had the opportunity to work for the university television station, and as a benefit, operate their equipment for independent means. This gave him the opportunity to continue producing commercials and music videos. In 2004, Christopher was hired to perform cinematography for an independent feature, The Fedora Life . In 2005, another opportunity called him to direct his second music video, which was nominated for Best Music Video at the IASB awards.
With motion pictures traditionally projected at 24, 25, 30, 50 and 60 frames per second, Christopher saw a story in every single passing frame, which built a commanding interest in still photography. Christopher began working with the university newspaper as a staff photographer, where he was noted for a print of Comedy Central's Isaac Witty. Afterwards, Christopher began renting out still photography equipment and independently indulged himself into single frame storytelling. From this point, Christopher became a triple threat in the entertainment industry as a filmmaker, musician, and still photographer. Towards the end of this year, he finished his screenplay, Fragile Hope , and began a critiquing process, which lasted until February 2011, and retitled, Undying Memoirs of the Search for Sanguinity. From 2005 to 2006, Christopher independently produced, wrote, directed, shot, and edited a corporate film, titled, UIndy Moto , which he received an award for Best Creativity in Television; all while writing and directing commercials for the university's television station, and producing still photography for the university's newspaper.
In late 2006, Christopher transferred to Ball State University, which would allow him to expand productions with more advanced equipment and facilities, as well as continue his studies in theatre and communication. This choice gave him the opportunity to independently produce and direct yet another music video, which won Best Music Video at the IASB awards. Soon after, he was referred to work on his second feature film, My Name Is Jerry , as second assistant director. This film stared actors Doug Jones (Fantastic Four, Hell Boy) , Don Stark (That 70's Show), Catherine Hicks (7th Heaven) , Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead) , and Allison Scagliotti (Drake & Josh). Immediately after the wrap of production, he was hired as chief editor for a television series, Off The Streets . Although he manage to work on several high quality productions, he felt the university's gain in technology and equipment forced a depletion in artistic quality in productions.
In 2009, Christopher returned to the University of Indianapolis where he was successfully able to gain a more artistic value and personal attention for his studies. Eager to start on another project, he voluntarily edited and composed two productions, titled, Belize and The ACTF Experience . These two productions allowed Christopher to go beyond his personal musical composition to focus on commercialising his music compositions. Afterwards, he teamed up with high school friend and stand-up comedian, Brad Hinshaw, where they collaborated, produced, and performed in several comedy sketches, which Christopher also directed. Concurrently, Christopher captured a variety of still images throughout the Midwest, California, and Florida. During this year, Christopher applied and was accepted to film school at International Film School (IFSS) in Sydney Australia.
In 2010, and with two semesters of undergrad remaining, Christopher studied abroad to gain a sense of Australia, its culture, and film industry in order to prepare himself for graduate studies at IFSS. During his undergrad studies abroad, he was able to write two short films, titled, I Saw My Son , and The Transformation . He also wrote a third screenplay shortly afterwards, titled, Blind Relations , which he was able to independently produce, direct, and compose the musical score. Consequently, he was asked to script edit and consult for a short film, titled, The Journalist , which he also performed a lead role. With many opportunities falling in his lap, and his studies becoming hard to balance with his professional life, Christopher made the hard decision to put his final semester of undergrad studies on hold in order to completely embrace his professional career. Following his previous short film, Christopher had the opportunity to capture a variety of landscape, urban, and nature photography, which was highly acclaimed by industry artists and referred to National Geographic. Subsequently, Christopher continued to capture an assortment of portraits and still life images adding to his growing repertoire of still photography. Following this campaign, Christopher directed and stared in a Dorito's commercial and produced, wrote, and directed two more short films, titled, To New Beginnings and Iðunnr , while simultaneously instructing acting and showreel courses.
At the conclusion of Iðunnr and teaching, and with a significant repertoire of productions, Christopher decided to keep his final semester of undergrad studies on hold and completely abandon his IFSS education. Soon after, he left for Europe in order to take the opportunity to produce and direct three independent gorilla style short films in London, France, and Germany, respectfully titled, The London Escapade , Discovery At Random , and Verloren in Deutschland in early 2011. Christopher also took this opportunity to indulge himself by capturing a variety of still images from his travels before taking a much need, though, brief vacation in his hometown of Indianapolis, IN, USA.

"Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night."
-Edgar Allan Poe
Personal Quote:
"I believe you learn common sense from your parents or in text books; and that is fitting...for adolescents. However, one will never learn their true potential by living the lives governed by their parents controlling wishes nor authors from text books. One must be brave enough to explore and discover their true spirit. One must have their own experiences, not borrowed. Until then, you reside in the womb."
